Introduce your Family

One of the most important documents for an Au Pair is the Host Family letter. This letter, addressed to your prospective Au Pair should describe your family, home interests and the type of Au pair you are seeking. Whether you are based in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth or a regional/remote location, please take the time to introduce your local area. Please note that we have sample letters we can send you to help you get started.

Schedule & Photos

Upload family photos to your application. We suggest that you include photos of the following:

  • Photos of your family including parents, children, and family pets
  • Photo of the Au Pair’s bedroom and/or bathroom
  • Photo of the living area and home
  • We know a week can quickly change but most families have a snapshot of a normal week that will show the Au pair what they can expect. Please make sure to make a snapshot schedule of a week with your family giving an indication of start and end times, tasks and duration.

Selecting Profiles

When you're ready to interview you will receive access to THE HUB - AIFS’ online database. You can view Au Pairs on THE HUB and request interviews.

Some families prefer our free bespoke matching service or amixtur of both. Our matching service offers you handpicked candidates based on your preferences and the au pairs. AIFS Matching is particularly useful for busy families who may not have time to use the HUB.

For some families, the interview and matching steps may take a few weeks, for others a few months. The time to select an Au Pair will depend on the time of year, your requirements and ensuring that the Au Pair is the perfect fit for your family.

Getting Ready

Upon selecting your Au Pair, a start date will be finalised between you and your Au Pair and you will receive the final placement and arrival information.

As all Au Pairs attend an arrival week in Sydney including a 2-day orientation at AIFS' CBD centre. Families are required to provide 1-way transport from Sydney to their home for their Au Pair.
